Rare Early Writings by Mark Twain

Samuel Clemens became an apprentice printer at the age of twelve when his father died. In his teens he experimented with writing short, funny pieces for local newspapers under such pen-names as Rambler, Grumbler, John Snooks, W. Epaminondas Adrastus Blab, Josh, and Thomas Jefferson Snodgrass—long before he chose his most famous name, Mark Twain. These samples were written for newspapers in Muscatine and Keokuk, Iowa.
